Community Highlights is an ongoing series of short articles that will spotlight small local businesses, nonprofits, or mutual aid groups that we feel provide a great benefit to our community and align with Everly’s mission of circular care and creative reuse.

Our second highlight is Seattle ReCreative, a 501c3 non-profit promoting "creativity, community, and environmental stewardship through creative reuse and arts education.” They have two locations—the original store in Greenwood at 8408 Greenwood Ave N and their newer, larger store in Georgetown at 6521 5th Ave S. Both locations collect donations via appointment only to keep materials out of landfill. (This is through early 2026 at time of writing) Check their website for updated information.

Seattle ReCreative offers a number of workshops and classes for adults, children, outreach workshops, summer camps, and more at both locations each month. Please refer to their website or Instagram (Greenwood & Georgetown) for the latest information on schedules and signups. You can even rent out spaces at either location for an Art Party to celebrate a birthday or rent out the room space for your own event.

There are also opportunities for free materials for teachers, Black, Indigenous or Artist of Color or are a non-profit organization that is run by Black, Indigenous or People of Color—check out the information here.

Types of materials you may find at either location include yarn, fabric, sewing notions, paper, coloring utensils, fine art supplies, frames, scrapbooking, and so much more. Be sure to stop by regularly—you could come across unique items such as sewing machines, light box tables, looms, a kiln, easels, or dress forms. The possibilities are endless, so stop by soon.
