Supporting the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project on Strike Day

In solidarity with the national strike, our partner thrift stores donated 10% all sales proceeds from January 30th, 2026 to the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.

Sharing Receipts

When the national shutdown on January 30th was going around, our team agreed that we wanted to support it in some way. We've had multiple discussions with both the nonprofit staff and Magpie Thrift staff about how our organizations can support our immigrant neighbors in this chaotic time. However, even closing for just one day makes a huge difference for a new small business like Magpie, let alone a small business trying to run two different stores AND support a new nonprofit, too!

Rather than risk losing out on business for a whole day, we decided to do the next best thing and share the profits where we can. Normally, any profits from Magpie are donated straight to Everly, but for January 30th 10% of all sales (after taxes) was donated directly to the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.

Between both stores (in Capitol Hill and Shoreline), Magpie Thrift made $4727.06, which left $472.70 for Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, plus a small processing fee we covered.

Why This Matters

Typically all of Magpie's profits go straight to supporting the nonprofit work we're doing at Everly, but we were more than happy to share for a day! Our nonprofit is geared towards supporting a sustainable community, investing in local circular care, and honoring our Queer history, but we cannot ignore the multiple crises impacting everyone around us.

Immigrants are just as much apart of our community as anyone else, and we shouldn't need a national strike day to prove that point. But, until that time, we'll continue giving back to everyone in as many ways as we possibly can.
