What You Will Do

Most volunteers are initially trained in 3 different stations around the store:

Dressing Rooms (DR)

Volunteers at this station are in charge of letting customers in or out of dressing rooms, which remain locked when not in use. They also help hang up or put out newly priced clothes, merchandise the clothing racks, and help answer customer questions.

Bag Check (BC)

Bag check attendants greet customers as they enter the store and check in any large bags that exceed the bag-size policy. They also help out with various projects like tagging new stock, writing signs, and even ringing up customers on the store's new cash-free register.

The downstairs is the largest area in the store and includes furniture, media, and knick-knacksbasically anything you can't wear! Downstairs volunteers help put out new merchandise, tidy the sales floor, redecorate displays, and support shoppers with any special requests.

Downstairs (DS)

After becoming comfortable at each of these stations, volunteers may also be assigned different, more advanced projects like sorting clothes, styling mannequins, testing electronics, and much much more!

They are also encouraged to lean into their personal interests as they continue to work with the team; so if there's anything in the store you may have the unique skills to work on, we'd love to hear about it!

Volunteer Enrichment Opportunities

We are currently in the process of developing a new branch of this program to offer volunteers more opportunities for education on sustainable skills like mending, refurbishing, and other forms of creative reuse or recycling. Participants will receive volunteer credits for the time they spend working on these lessons.

Each volunteer will choose from a list of topics curated by our volunteer leadership team to align with the work they're doing in the store. These topics will range from an overview on fast fashion, how to replace a button by hand, or to turn recycled materials into new craft projects!

We believe in a strong culture of knowledge sharing at Everly and want to give our volunteers the time to develop this in themselves, too!

If you are a local artist, cratftsperson, or educator interested in sharing your skills with our volunteers by hosting a workshop or writing a lesson for this program please reach out to us here. Let's see how we can work together!
